Cross-linking agent has functions as follows!

Cross-linking agent is mainly used in high polymer materials (rubber and thermosetting resin). Molecular structure of high polymer material looks like a long line, and it has low strength, no elasticity before cross-linking. The cross-linking agent can generate chemical bond between linear molecules, enhance the strength and elasticity of rubber. Main cross-linking agent used in rubber is sulfur.

Adding cross-linking agent in plastic and rubber foam materials can maintain bubble generated by foaming agent. Cross-linking reaction can improve heat resistance, chemical performance, electrical property, medium resistance, weather resistance, anti-aging property, etc. In rubber industry, the cross-linking agent is known as vulcanizing agent, in thermosetting plastic industry as curing agent.
