Cross-linking agent is also known as curing agent, hardener, maturing agent, it can increase strength, improve heat resistance, wear resistance and solvent resistance, etc. It can be used for foaming products and non-foaming agent.
Common cross-linking agents is organic peroxide:
①Dicumyl peroxide (DCP)
It is the most commonly used cross-linking agent, density 1.08g/cubic centimeter, melting point 42℃, decomposition temperature 120~125℃, refractive index 1.54, half-life period is 10 hours at 117℃, it can be used with zinc oxide to enhance strength and anti-aging property.
②Benzoyl peroxide (BPO)
White powder, melting point 103~106℃, extremely unstable, slightly soluble in organic solvents.
③Di-tert-butyl peroxide (DTBP)
Yellowish transparent liquid, density is 0.8g/cubic centimeter, boiling point 110℃, ignition point is 183℃, refractive index 1.4, half-life period is 10 hours at 126℃.
④diisopropyl benzene hydroperoxide
Light yellow liquid, breaks down in contact with acid and alkali or if heated.
Diethylenetriamine (DTA), colorless liquid, boiling point 207℃, density 0.954g/cubic centimeter, refractive index 1.5, flash point 94℃, generally used in epoxy resin, and the dosage is 5 %~10%.
