Shellac
¡¡¡¡
1. Origin
Shellac is excreted by shellac insects that grow in the shellac trees.
The main products of shellac are: piece shellac, color shellac, bleached
shellac and shellac red pigment.
2. Component
The main constituent is rosin. Shellac is the polymer of aleurone acid
and capsomere acid. Besides, it contains waxiness, pigments and other
water-soluble substances. Each constituent changes with the trees which
the shellac grows on, origin, and so on.
3. Characteristic
¡¡(1) It is of transparent without odor and poison.
¡¡(2) Good capability of fixing color, strong plasticity, strong conglutination
and coating dries quickly.
¡¡(3) It is insoluble in water and acid, soluble in organic solvent such
as alcohol.
¡¡(4) It resist ultraviolet radiation, hydrocarbon such as oil.
¡¡(5) It has low coefficient of expansion, and so it is a good insulation.
¡¡(6) Our product possesses many merits such as its transparency, resisting
friction, oil and acid, dissolving in alcohol, coating dries quickly,
strong plasticity, fixing color capability etc.
4. Application
It is widely used in chemical industry, military industry, metallurgy,
machine, wood furniture, paper making, electricity, pharmacy and food
processing.
