DMSO has dual functions of reaction solvent and reaction reagent. Some reactions which doesn’t realize can go on wheels in DMSO. It has acceleration speed and catalysis, and increases productivity and improves product properties for some chemical reactions.

4. Dual building rearrangement: dual building rearrangement can be produced catalyzed through potassium tert-butoxide in DMSO, and reaction can take in low temperature.
5. Other reactions: there are many research reports about reaction solvent in DMSO. DMSO is used as reaction solvent in condensation reaction and macromolecule multi-polymers. Such as, Dicckmann reaction, dextran depolymerization, acylation, etc.
In total, DMSO creates a new path in chemical facilities, accelerates chemical reaction speed and produces many new matters. It is not only the solvent, but also become a new method in chemical reaction. It gets significant meanings in theory and practice.
