Properties:
Formless light brown dar, grey powder, with active chemical propeties, stable in the air and at normal temperature. Burn at 700°C. Insoluble in water, salt, ethanol and ether. Can dissolve in concentrated alkali with cold water, and tease out ammonia gas. Can be oxidized by concentrated nitric acid or sulphuric acid and produce boric acid. At high temperature, it will react with oxygen, sulphur, halogen and carbon, and can also combine to metal to produce boride.
Use:
It is widely used in alloy, special steel, atomic pile, electronic industry, medicine, ceramic and organic chemicals, etc. It is the material to produce roacket fuel and boride. |
