PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIED: Pure product is a colourless crystal,m.p. 49?, readily soluble in most organic solvents,e.g.in alcohol, ketones, benzene, toluene, chloroform, dichloromethane >300, carbon tetrachloride, saturated hydrocarbons, n-octanol >50(all in g/kg, 20?). Technical 0 product is white to greyish crystals.
TOXICOLOGY: Oral Acute oral LD 50 for rats is 387mg/kg. Mice 160,rabbits 300,guinea pigs 350mg/kg. Skin and eye Acute percutaneous LD 50 for rats>2000mg/kg.Non-irritating to skin(rabbits). Inhalation LC 50 (4h) for rats>1.6mg/L air . Birds Acute oral LD 50 for male pheasants 15,quail 84,chicken 108,female ducks 40mg/kg. Fish LC 50 (96h) for rainbow trout 6.2,bluegill sunfish 6mg/L. Bees Toxic to bees.

USED: Dimethoate is contact and systemic organophosphorus insecticide and acarecide with a broad range. It can control homopteras(such as aphides), dipters(such as agromuzidaex), coleopteras(such as snout beetles) and mites (such as red spiders mites and two spotted spider mites) in ornamentals, vegetable cotton, fruits and cereal crops, also controls norther cattle grubs
