Properties: clear colorless liquid. Ether-like odor. Density 0.8892, nD 1.405, bp 66oC, solidifying point -108.56oC. Miscible with water and most organic solvents. Flammable. May cause peroxide explosion in air.

Use: Solvent for high polymers, especially polyvinyl chloride. As reaction medium for Grignard and metal hydride reactions. In the synthesis of butyrolactone, succinic acid, 1,4-butanediol diacetate. Solvent in histological techniques.

Storage: THF shall be kept well closed in a cool, dry and ventilated place. Avoid flame, heat and static. Keep away from oxidant and strong acid. Flammable labeling is required.
