Molecular sieve type 5A
GENERAL
- Molecular sieve type 5A, the calcium form of the type A crystal structure, is an ankle metal alumina-silicate. Type 5A will adsorb molecules with critical diameters up to 5 angstroms.
- Chemical formula is Ca4,5[(AlO2)12(SiO2)12]XH2O
- Molecular sieve type 5A can be regenerated for re-use by purging or evacuating at elevated temperatures. The degree of regeneration (water removal) is dependent on the temperature and humidity of the purge gas.
APPLICATION
Type 5A is the molecular sieve adsorbent which made possible
the separation of normal paraffin from branch-chain and cyclic hydrocarbons
through a selective adsorption process. It is now used commercially
in large-scale n-paraffin separation process.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
- High selectivity
- Low attrition loss
- High crush strength
- High H2O capacity
