INDUSTRAL SODIUM HYDROXIDE

Sodiun hydroxide(NaOH),also called caustic soda,is one of the basic raw materials for chemical industry. This product is made of industral salt which is diaphragm electrolysed, evaporated, separated or re-evaporated to form liquid caustic soda of different specifications and lumpy and flaky solid caustic soda.Solid caustic soda is variety of commercial caustic soda, which can be applied by the departments having special rcquirements for it,Moreover,it is easily stored and transported.

1.Characteristics:
Solid caustic soda is a hard and brittle solid in white color or tinged with light blue, of which the density is 2.13/cm³ and the melting point is 318.It is easily soluble in water while giving off a large quantity of heat and is easy to deliquesce in air while absorbing carbon dioxide(CO₂)to change gradually to soda. This product and its aqueous solution have strong corrosiveness for many substances and can burn the skin.Therefore, it must be stored in the hermetic iron drums or plastic packing containers.
