Carbomer 980 Carbomer is acrylates crosspolymer, trade name is Carbopol, Structure formula is
Carboxyl group of Carbomer molecule is ionized by alkali neutralization, then negative charge rejects mutually, molecular chain spreads and expanses, and transparent gel is formed. Small amount of Carbomer shows good rheological properties, which make particle or oildrop to suspend permanently. Carbomer is widely used as thickener and suspension stabilizer in two phase system such as shampoo and cream products.
With high viscosity and good suspension stability, Carbomer 980 is suitable for shampoo, shower gel and other suspension system.
