III. Properties:

Cyanuricacid is white crystalline powder, odorless and tasteless, or with a bit of bitterness.

In water, it can be crystallized into dihydrate with two monoclinic prisms; in air, it can be dried into anhydrous octahedral crystal. And it will quickly lose the crystalline water and become anhydrous when heated to above 150°C. The melting point of the anhydrous is not obvious. Generally, it will melt down and decompose at the temperature above 330-360°C, and will decompose into HOCN and HNCO when strongly heated or heated at the temperature above the melting point.


Cyanuricacid is slightly soluble in hot water. At 90°C, its Solubility is 3.6g/100g water. It is hardly soluble in cool water. At 25°C, its solubility is 0.2g/100g water. It is also hardly soluble in common organic solvent. Its solubility is lower than 0.1g/100g solvent in ethanol, benzene, ether, acetone, ethane and so on. It is slightly soluble in aldehyde, and easily soluble in sulfuric acid, dimethyl formamide and n-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone, etc. It is easily soluble in caustic alkali solution, and can form into corresponding trisodium salt solution. Cyanuricacid is weak acidic. At 95°C, its PH value in saturated aqueous solution (1%) is 3.5-4.3.

 

IV. Product use:

1. In swimming pools, cyanuricacid monomer can be used as in-water stabilizer. Its dosage is 30ppm. The available chlorine in water and cyanuricacid can form into isocyanuric chloride, to make the chlorine stable and not get out from water, so as to save the dosage of activated bactericide.

2. In agriculture, cyanuricacid can be used as selective herbicide, or medicine to kill mollusk.

3. Cyanuricacid can be used to synthesize isocyanuric chloride and its alkali metal salt. Alkalizing cyanuricacid into salt and chloridizing the salt can get broad-spectrum disinfectant and bleacher: trichloroisocyanuric acid,sodium dichloroisocyanurate and potassium dichloroisocyanurate, etc, which is the material for the swimming pool, drinking water, sewage and civil disinfectant, textile bleacher as well as disinfecting detergent and eradicator. Now 60%-70% of cyanuricacid is used to synthesize isocyanuric chloride, and the demand of isocyanuric chloride is still increasing.

4. It can be used as the monomer of synthetic material, and the material of resin, plastic and paint.

5. It can be used as heat stabilizer, antioxidant and crosslinking agent, etc for synthetic rubber and plastic.

6. It can be used as meterial to synthesize lubricant and fire retardant: use cyanuricacid and melamine to produce MCA. It is a kind of good organic lubricant, capable to be used in lubricating grease instead of copper sulfide. It is also a kind of fire retardant, and can be used to produce insulated paint.

7. It can be used to synthesize cyanuric chloride: use phosphorus pentachloride to chloridize with phosphorus cyanurate oxide as solvent can produce cyanuric chloride, which is widely used as reactive dyes, fluorescence brightener and intermediate to synthisize pesticide.

8. It can be used to produce amino resin adhesive, surface active agent, aqueous solution fluorescence resin pigments and creaseproofing treatment agent for textiles.

V. Packing: It can be packed in plastic bag, paper drum or plastic drum, etc.
