Citgo has announced that it has resumed production at its Lake Charles, LA lube and wax plant was damaged by Hurricanes Rita although it is not yet up to full capacity. The company reports that the force majeure declaration remains in effect. The Lake Charles base oil plant has capacity to produce 9500 bd of Group I base oils and 31 million pounds per year of finished waxes and 83 million pounds per year of unfinished waxes. ExxonMobil has indicated that it has restarted some units at its Beaumont, TX refinery but does not have its 12500 bd Group I base oils plant operating at full capacity. Beaumont also has capacity to produce 176 million pounds per year of finished waxes and 62 million pounds per year of unfinished waxes. The other base oil plant affected by the Hurricanes operated by Excel Paralubes does not produce petroleum waxes. |
