    Chinese production of crude oil in 2006 averaged 3.67 mbd, an increase of 1.7 percent compared to 2005. Crude oil imports averaged 2.77 mbd, an increase of 0.47 mbd or 16.9 percent compared to 2005. Crude imports accounted for 43 percent of Chinese crude supply in 2006, up from 29 percent in 2005. In addition, to imports of crude oil, China imports 0.50 mbd of petroleum products an increase of percent of the increase in global consumption of crude oil in 2006.
