ExxonMobil Corp, has announced that it has sold its North American wax emulsion business to Crystal PMC Corp, Lansdale, PA, a subsidiary of PMC Group. The sale includes the Mobilcer and Mulrex brand names for its wax emulsions as well as its business accounts and related technology. Crystal PMC Corp. is a supplier of specialty and performance chemicals including stearates, wax emulsions, antifoam agents, additives and process chemicals.
The Mobilcer and Mulrex emulsions are used primarily in construction board such as particleboard, oriented strandboard, medium density fiberboard, hardboard, insulation board and gypsum board. Other uses are in paper and paperboard applications where they are used in paper converting, for internal and surface sizing of paper and paperboard, to control foam in papermaking systems, and provide added pliability to coatings and improve calendaring and finishing..
