EASTBOUND UPGRADING DEVELOPMENT FACILITIES

 

Development Operations Move to Shangyu

Shangyu, China (April 1, 2011)

Eastbound Pharma Ltd. (“Eastbound”) is moving the Eastbound Shanghai Institute from the current site in Zizhu Science Park of Shanghai to new facilities at the Shangyu manufacturing complex of Eastbound Pharma Ltd. Effective April 1, all development facilities will have been transferred to a new 1000 m2 laboratory and analytical facility located on the Shangyu manufacturing site. The development division of Eastbound Pharma Ltd will be renamed the Eastbound Development Institute.

“The transfer of the development lab from Shanghai to Shangyu will significantly improve our capability to custom design and manufacture compounds for our clients” said Michael Zhang, president of Eastbound. “Each project at Eastbound must be carefully managed to insure a smooth transition during scale-up. By bringing the lab to Shangyu, the scale-up of cGMP and non-cGMP processes will be under close supervision of our key development group.”

The new facility will include 27 new laboratory hoods for chemical process development and three new walk-in hoods where a new cGMP kilo lab will be developed for demonstration of new processes at larger scale. The kilo lab will have vessel capacities ranging from 20 to 100 liters and a capacity to make batches up to 10 kg. Larger scale operations will be reserved for the new cGMP pilot facility also under construction in Shangyu. That pilot plant will have a capacity of 17 m3 with vessels ranging from 100 to 3,000 liters and will serve to demonstrate commercial scale operations of most processes.

By closing Shanghai operations, Eastbound is also transferring the operational headquarters to the new site. Therefore, starting April 1, all management personnel will finally be located together in Shangyu. The new corporate address for Eastbound will be:
