Chemical and physical properties:light brown powder, can be stored for a long time, not easy to degenerate, non-toxic, no odor, non-polluting and doesn't change color. It isn't dissoluble in acid, alcohol, gasoline, benzene, pyridine and water. It decomposes and gives off such gases as ammonia when meeting alkalis. It doesn't help combustion and can be extinguished by itself. However, it decomposes at high temperatures, and the heat given off after decomposition starts propels its rapid decomposition.
Application: it gives off the largest amount of gas in the blowing agents often used at present. It is widely applied to such foam plastic products as PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyamide, as well as such foam products as Chloroprene rubber adhesive, NBR, natural rubber, butyl adhesive, Styrene butadiene copolymer and silicon rubber.
