Overview

ABS resin has good moldability and high impact strength,but due to its weak resistance to heat, its application is limited to products that do not require higher heat resistance. Heat resistant grades of Starex ABS provide good weatherability and chemical resistance with high impact and flow characteristics. It is most suitable for electric and electronic components and automotive parts that require heat resistance higher than VST 100℃.

1) Variety of Grades

The straex Heat Resistant ABS has Vicat Softening Temperature ranging from 100℃ to 120℃(5kg Load)

2) Good Processability
Easy molding and higher levels of productivity can be achieved with the good processability of starex Heat Resistant ABS.

3) Mechanical Properties
Heat Resistance and mechanical properties of starex Heat Resistant ABS are well balanced.

4) Appearance
Since starex Heat Resistant ABS has a high gloss surface, it is suitable for end products requiring an attractive appearance.

5) Chemical Resistance
Along with its good impact strength and high surface gloss, starex Heat Resistant ABS exhibits excellent chemical resistance. This is a typical ABS characteristics.

 

Properties

1) Heat Resistance
The starex Heat Resistant ABS shows enhanced heat resistance compared with general ABS. The straex Heat Resistant ABS has Vicat Softening Temperature ranging from 100℃ to 120℃(5kg Load). Also, The heat sag and heat shrinkage tests well represent the excellent heat resistance of heat resistant grade of starex ABS.

2) Mechanical Properties
The starex Heat Resistance ABS has excellent mechanical strength. The starex Heat Resistant ABS shows enhanced property balance of heat resistance and mechanical strength including impact strength and tensile strength

3) Chemical Resistance
The chemical resistance of starex Heat Resistance ABS shows similar trend to general purpose ABS. When it is used for interior and exterior component which would be in contact with specific chemicals, care must be taken because the round mark can be generated without external deformation

4) Flow Characteristics
The starex Heat Resistance ABS exhibits excellent fluidity as well as higher degree of heat resistance leading to superior processability.
