relatively insoluble in aqueous solution, so the early clinical tests were carried out by use of sodium camptothecin derivative. Although these tests caused response, but bone marrow suppression and cystitis usually appear in the tests, so this medicine was thought to be too toxic for clinic application. After that, it was found that if hydrolyzing the lactone in camptothecin molecule in sodium camptothecin derivative, the activity of this compound would be greatly reduced. And further researches lead to the generation of TPT(topotecan) and CPT-11(irinotecan), whose lactone structures are complete. Therefore, camptothecin was permitted to be used to treat cancer. Some other camptothecin analogues are also in clinic research.
Our Company mainly manufactures camptothecin, andrographolide and extractum herba andrographitis. The monthly output of camptothecin is 25 kg, and it can be divided into three grades respectively with purity of 95%, 98% and 99% (or according to client's requirements). The monthly output of andrographolide is 600kg with assay of 98% (HPLC). The monthly output of extractum herba andrographitis is 1200kg, with over 5% of dehydroandrographolide.
