Ferrosilicon

Ferrosilicon:It is the alloy of silicon and iron. According to the assay of silicon, we now can offer such specifications as: 45%, 65%, 75% and 90%.

Physical state:The casting thickness: ingots of FeSi75 series should not be more than 100mm; ingots of FeSi65 series should not be more than 80mm. The segregation of silicon should not be more than 4%. Big granularity: 50-350mm, Moderate granularity: 20-200mm, Small granularity: 10~100mm, Minimum granularity: 10-50mm, the quantity of small granularity should not be less than 90%.

Uses:Silicon can become silica easily, thus ferrosilicon can often be used as deoxidizer in the production of steel. At the same time, it releases a plenty of heats during silicon becomes silica, thus it is good to increase the temperature of molten steel. As one kind alloy additive, it is widely used in low-alloy structural steel, alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel & electrical silicon steel; moreover, it can be used as reductant in the production of ferric alloy and chemical industry. The assay of silicon reached 95% to 99%. Pure silicon can be used to produce monocrystalline silicon and non-ferrous metal alloys.

 Now, it is very popular in steel, casting and other industries. It is an essential deoxidizer in the production of steel.  It can be used to settling and dispersing deoxygenation, or used as alloy agent in the production of steel. The silicon in steel can improve strength, hardness, elasticity, and magnetic permeability of steel and reduce hysteresis loss of transformer iron. The assays in different steel are: common steel  0.15%-0.35%, 0.40%-1.75% in steel structure,  tool steel   0.30%-1.80%, spring steel 0.40%-2.80%, stainless acid-proof steel 3.40%-4.00%, heat-resistant steel 1.00%-3.00% silicon, silicon steel  2% to 3% or higher.

High silicon ferrosilicon or silica alloy can be used as reductant in the production of low carbon ferroalloy. Ferrosilicon can be used as inoculant of nodular cast iron, to control the production of carbonate, accelerate the production and spheroidization of graphite to improve the performance of casting iron.

It can be used as suspended phase in mine dressing industry; high silicon ferrosilicon can used to produce pure semiconductor silicone in electronic industry or silicone in chemical industry.

In the production of steel, one ton steel needs 3 to 5kg of 75% ferrosilicon.
