Sodium metabisulfite

Properties: Sodium metabisulfite is white or yellow crystalline powder with strong SO₂ smell. Specific wt.: 1.4, soluble in water, aqueous solution is basic; will release SO₂ and generate salts when contacting with strong acids. After long-time exposure to air, it will be oxidized into Na₂S₂O₄. At above 1500C, it will be decomposed into SO₂.
