Details

Properties: At normal temperature, it can react with hydrogen sulfide to generate sulfur. It is transparent colorless liquid with irritating odor. It can be oxidized by strong oxidant into sulfur trioxide. Relative density: 143(0℃). It is soluble in water, ethanol and ether. Solubility in water: at 0℃: 22.8g 100g; at 20℃: 11.59／100g; at 90℃: 2.19／100g.

Crystallization temperature－72／ L. B.p.: －10℃. At high temperature, with the help of catalysts, it can be reduced by hydrogen into hydrogen sulfide, and by carbon monoxide into sulfur.

Use: It is used for pesticide, medical, synthetic fiber and dyes industries. It is an excellent solvent for various compounds; also used for the manufacture of sodium hydrosulfite and sulfite etc.
