| It has long been agreed that lanolin is the one material which approximates human sebum more than any other naturally occurring material.
The functions of human and ovine secretion are very similar but their chemical compositions are very different in that the ovine secretion of sebum is devoid of triglycerides, hence lanolin is classed as a wax rather than a fat.
