DERIVATIVES / MODIFICATION |
Lanolin being a mixture of liquid and waxy hydroxyl esters is an ideal and versatile raw material base for the synthesis of many derivatives possessing a diverse range of properties. The aim of modifying lanolin is to improve its performance whilst at the same time removing some of its disadvantages. Changes to chemical and physical aspects enhance its properties including improvements in spread and drag co-efficient, stability, solubility and viscosity to mention a few.
Many derivatives of lanolin can be produced and include ethoxylated, esterified, acetylated and hydrogenated products. This broad spectrum of modified lanolin derivatives finds uses in almost all skin, hair and wash applications.
