Lanolin has been used from as far back as the year 700 B.C. It is recorded that during ancient

times, wool-grease was first recovered by boiling the wool in water. Upon boiling, the froth that

appeared on the top of the boiling liquor was subsequently skimmed off to a receptacle and

allowed to collapse. The grease residue formed after the collapse of the froth was then collected

and used for protecting exposed skin in harsh weather conditions. It also found uses in some

early ointment bases and topical applications.

Lanolin has since developed from the crude mixture as it was then into an important

ingredient which is today used extensively in cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications.Today's

lanolin retains the benefits that were first realized during these ancient times and now has many

more uses and benefits that have been discovered since. Naturally renewable and in abundant
