Isopropyl Lanolate is the ester of selective Lanolin Fatty Acids reacted with Isopropyl Alcohol. The crude ester is then subjected to molecular distillation where the various different molecular weight fractions of the crude ester are separated.
The mid fraction is carefully removed and then sent through a series of falling film evaporators to remove any unpleasant smells that may be present.
The ester has many uses and finds great popularity in products requiring good lubricity i.e. skin creams, lotions and lipsticks. It is also very easily absorbed as the product melts at normal skin temperatures offering a high degree of emolliency.
Also used extensively in lip products as a pay off agent and as a glossing agent. |
